Tips And Ideas For Baby’s 1st Christmas
Take Some Christmas Family Photos
Get the whole family dressed up and get some photos taken. You could have a set done of baby on their own perhaps surrounded by festive things or wearing a Santa hat.
As well as making some beautiful memories you could also turn the photographs into your holiday card. This can be done online quickly and easily.
Family Christmas Traditions
Your baby’s 1st Christmas is the perfect time to start some festive traditions for your new little family. This doesn’t have to be anything big because it’s the little things that count.
You could visit certain family members on Christmas eve, wear matching pyjamas, or eat foods that you all love. When they are older your child will love to hear how these traditions have been around the whole of their lives.
Visit Santa
So I realize that your baby is not going to know who Santa is but when you look back on the memories and the gorgeous photos you will take that wont’t matter one bit.
Dress baby up in a festive outfit, take the whole family and make a day of it. The first Christmas is definitely the right time to do this. The second Santa visit will probably not go quite so smoothly, take it from me.

Personalised Stocking For Baby
We all have stockings with our names on and each time we had a new arrival this was the first thing I did in preparation for the holidays.
The kids get such a kick at seeing all of our names on the stockings hanging on the wall. We tell them it stops Santa from getting the presents mixed up.
Personalised tree ornaments are also a great idea. Buy one for baby,s first Christmas and then each year they can hang their own special ornament on the tree.
Decorate The Nursery
Babies love nothing more than lights and sparkles so why not give them a fun, festive nursery. You will never get over the look of wonder on their face.
If your baby is moving around remember to keep everything out of their reach.
Let Go Of The Old To Make Way For The New
Why not a good clear out in the run up to the holidays. There will be lots of new things arriving to clutter up your home so why not have a good sort out and make some space.
Don’t Go Mad With The Gifts
Grandparents and other family members will no doubt spoil your baby on their !st Christmas so its perfectly fine for you to get them just one or two special gifts.
You could get them something personlized that they will be able to keep and treasure. Remember, there will be plenty of time to spoil them as they get older and they start producing epic Christmas lists.
As an extra tip, I wouldn’t bother wrapping the presents this first year as your baby probably won’t be able to unwrap their presents. This will save you a bit of time and a lot of mess.
Practical Gifts Are Fine
As well as sentimental gifts it is also perfectly fine to get baby something practical, that you need for them. Whether it be clothes, or something for the nursery buying them something they need and will get use of makes much more sense than a mountain of Teddy bears.

Don’t Plan Too Much
Unfortunately things very rarely go to plan when there is a baby involved. Avoid making to many plans or commitments on the big day. Baby’s are unpredictable and you never know what is going to happen.
I’m sure friends and family will understand if you ask them to visit you this year. Try not to worry about things being perfect. If your baby is pretty new you are still going to be recovering and may all be sleep deprived.

It’s Okay To Forget Your Routine For One Day
Don’t worry if you can’t stick to your usual daily routine. It is just for one day and there will probably be a lot of people, lots to do and things going on all day. Baby’s day not being perfectly on schedule is understandable on Christmas day.
You Don’t Need To Be Adventurous With The Cooking
If you are hosting this year then you may need to comprise on how much cooking you can manage.
Ask your guests to bring a dish with them, they won’t mind helping out. Its probably best to plan out in advance who is bringing what so you don’t end up with 5 dishes of potato and no pudding!
Above all just try to relax, enjoy your baby’s 1st Christmas, and make some magical memories.
